KCET 2014 on May 1 & 2

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test conducted for admissions to Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture courses for the academic year 2014-15 is scheduled to be conducted on May 1 and May 2, 2014.

Popularly known as the K-CET, the exam is organised by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) which takes care of the entire admission counselling process for B.Tech, B.Pharm, B.Arch and MBBS courses.

The K-CET is a qualifying examination for both Engineering (B.Tech) and Medical courses in the state of Karnataka, however, medical aspirants HAVE TO appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) to secure a seat in any medical college.

While the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha have agreed to scrap their state entrance test and accept admissions based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2014, admissions to engineering colleges in Karnataka (affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University) are based on the KCET or the COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) Tests. 50% of the seats are filled via KCET while the remaining through COMEDK.

COMEDK is tentatively scheduled a week after the KCET.

Here's the detailed schedule of the K-CET 2014 -

Day & Date Time Subject Marks
Thursday, May 1, 2014 10.30 am to 11.50 am Biology 60

Friday, May 2, 2014 10.30 am to 11.50 am Physics 60
